Qualifying in 2017 – REACH YOUR POTENTIAL

With seat rotations fast approaching, many of you will be heading into the final seat of your training contracts and thoughts will naturally turn to qualification.  Choosing where you qualify will be one of the key decisions that shapes the direction of your legal career.

Each year Hays partners with the Bristol JLD to support trainees as they get ready for qualification.  We are looking to run our annual NQ Career Clinic, at which Hays will provide advice and support on the following:

1. The current market and expected demands for newly qualified solicitors
2. Suggested timescales to work to
3. Interviewing techniques
4. CV guidance
5. Salary information

After the presentation, you will have the opportunity to network and talk to us informally over drinks.

If this sounds like something that you would value and would be keen to attend, please complete the survey and we will aim to schedule the event within the next month.

Speed-networking event at BPP Bristol, 15th March

Meet The Lawyers: Speed-Networking Event – BPP University, 15th March, 6pm – 7.30pm

At BPP Bristol, we recognise the importance of our GDL and LPC students developing their networks in the legal sector at this early stage in their career. This can be a challenge for students who do not have any personal or family connections with the legal sector.

We are therefore hosting a small speed-networking event on Wednesday 15th March from 6pm. The purpose of the speed-networking event is:

  • To provide an opportunity for students to practice their networking skills, and to enhance students’ networks in the legal sector.
  • To provide members of the Junior Lawyers Division with an opportunity to support BPP law students, representing their firm/organisation and demonstrating their commitment to equality and diversity.

If you have not come across the term ‘speed-networking’, it can be likened to the format of speed-dating – one student will be sat with one lawyer for a few minutes before a bell rings and the student moves on to the next lawyer. After completing a full circuit of the room, there will be time for more informal networking over some light refreshments.

We are looking for approximately 10 trainee or qualified to support this event. If you would be interested in participating in this event, please email Amy Haines (Careers Consultant) at amyhaines@bpp.com before Monday 13th March with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your firm/organisation and job title
  • Confirmation of your availability on 15th March from 6pm

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Amy on the above email address.

Thank you in advance for your support.
